Why should I consider HelpBreeze 3.0 rather than a competing Help
authoring tool?
HelpBreeze 3.0 offers a number of advantages which set it
apart from the competition:
- A powerful, yet easy-to-use Microsoft Word-based
environment. HelpBreeze 3.0 includes all the tools you need to create great online helps
systems. Unlike some other help authoring tools, HelpBreeze doesn't add unnecessary
complexity or radically change Microsoft Word's interface.
- A unique approach to single
source Help file/Printed Document Authoring. Most other authoring tools don't offer
true single source capability at all. Those which do usually use a "Print to
Help" approach which requires a long conversion process every time you need to update
your Help file. Because HelpBreeze 3.0 maintains the primary source documents in
Helprather than Printformat, you get the advantages of interactive, WYSIWYG
authoring and testing, combined with true single source capability.
- Extraordinary Value. HelpBreeze 3.0 Suite
includes a complete suite of tools for creating Windows Help, HTML Help, JavaHelp,
standard HTML and printed documentation. HelpBreeze 3.0 costs $349, including email
support. Competing help authoring suites are often priced at $800-$1500 initially with
support and upgrade costs adding dramatically to the cost of ownership over time. Unlike
our competitors we provide most updates free of charge on our website. For
example, we recenly released HelpBreeze 3.0a--which supports Word 2002 (office XP)--and
provided it as a free download to all registered users.
Can HelpBreeze
create HTML and HTML Help pages? What is HTML Help?
Yes, HelpBreeze 3.0 offers two ways to create HTML Help
systems:
The HTML Wizard is a tool integrated directly with
HelpBreeze for MS Word. The HTML Wizard lets you easily convert your Windows help project
to HTML Help or standard HTML.
Also included are HelpBreeze HTML Help Edition and
HelpBreeze JavaHelp Edition: separate stand-alone WYSIWYG tools for creating HTML Help and
JavaHelp systems.
Microsoft HTML Help is the new generation help system from
Microsoft. HTML Help is the standard help system in Windows 98 and 2000.
Can HelpBreeze import
existing projects and documents?
Yes, HelpBreeze can directly import .RTF and .HPJ files
created by another Help authoring tool.
HelpBreeze can also automatically import any plain Word
document and convert it into a Help file, complete with topics, hypertext jumps, keywords
and browse sequences. Once the document has been imported, you can use HelpBreeze 3.0's
interactive features to refine and maintain it.
Can HelpBreeze
be used to create a Help file for my application?
Yes, HelpBreeze includes full support for developing
context-sensitive Help files for any 32- or 16-bit application. Any Windows programming
language will work with HelpBreeze, including Visual Basic, Visual or Borland C++, Delphi,
PowerBuilder, Access, Paradox, FoxPro, etc.
If you are interested in using field-level, "What's
This" pop-up Help, HelpBreeze 3.0 includes, What's This Assistant, which makes
this very easy.
Which
versions and languages of Microsoft Word does HelpBreeze support?

(Office XP), 2000, 97 and 95. Users who have Word 2000 or later should be sure to download
the free v. 3.0a update (available on our downloads page).
