Downloading Microsoft HTML Help Workshop

In order to create Microsoft HTML Help systems you need to download the HTML Help Workshop from Microsoft's website.

HTML Help Workshop is free, and HTML Help systems you create using the software may be freely distributed and/or deployed on your website or intranet. Please see Microsoft's license agreement for details.

To download HTML Help Workshop visit:

http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/author/htmlhelp/default.asp

Microsoft HTML Help is an evolving technology and contains known problems. Solutionsoft's support for HTML Help is limited to the use of the WordToWeb conversion software. We cannot resolve problems with HTML Help itself.

For issues related to HTML Help development and deployment, please visit Microsoft's HTML Help website:

http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/author/htmlhelp/default.asp.

This site includes technical information, as well as access to online forums where you can ask questions. We also recommend that you check this site frequently for updates to the HTML Help software.

If you will be publishing on a public website, be aware that HTML Help systems are not accessible to all browsers.

If all visitors to your website must be able to access your publication, we strongly recommend that you create both a plain HTML and an HTML Help version and then give the user the option to choose.
